A person's ability to ambulate/locomote has direct implications for the plan of care, especially determining the need for and type of additional services and potential length of the home care episode. Is an evaluation for physical or occupational therapy services indicated? Should the patient be evaluated for the use of assistive devices? Is someone available to assist? Are home health aide services indicated? What are the associated teaching needs for the patient, the family, or caregivers?
