Mrs. Brennan, I'd like to know about your medication. What are you taking, and how often are you taking it for your pain? MRS. BRENNAN I'm only taking the Extra Strength Tylenol now. Every four hours.

FLORENCE And that's covering everything for you? MRS. BRENNAN Yes.

FLORENCE Wonderful, wonderful! Well, I'd like to see how you're managing getting to the bathroom and with bathing. MRS. BRENNAN Okay, the bathroom is just down the hallway. And I can manage just fine as long as I take things slowly. That hi-rise toilet seat that my daughter brought is a Godsend. And she also got a stool for the shower, and one of those, umm, “grabber” things that the nurses at the hospital told us about.

FLORENCE Let's go take a look at those.

MRS. BRENNAN All right.

FLORENCE Very good.

MRS. BRENNAN Thanks. I'm coming along pretty well, don't you think?

FLORENCE I think you're doing very well.

MRS. BRENNAN Well, there's the special toilet seat I told you about. And for bathing, I have a stool in there and one of those showerheads that you can hold and move it about you. I really like that; it makes everything so much easier. Oh, and by the sink I have out pretty much everything I need on a daily basis.

FLORENCE Well, I can see that your daughter is concerned for your safety. How is this working for you?

MRS. BRENNAN Oh, it's working great. I was taking sponge baths at the sink when I first got home. But I had to ask my daughter to wash my feet and I hate to bother her so much. That's why she got the stool and the showerhead. I must confess, though, I don't like getting in there by myself, so I wait until she's here and she helps me. Just until I'm a little steadier.

FLORENCE How does your daughter help you with your bathing?

MRS. BRENNAN Oh, she helps me in and out. I can bathe myself.

FLORENCE I'd like to get an idea about how much this has changed for you, if at all, especially in the last two weeks. Let's see. Let's think back fourteen days. That would be the eighth, right? How were you bathing then?

MRS. BRENNAN Um, how was I bathing? I don't understand.

FLORENCE Oh, were you using the tub? Were you taking a shower? Did you have anyone to help you?

MRS. BRENNAN Oh, no. No, I didn't have any help, and I didn't need that stool, either. I took showers, sometimes a bath
